Nike Fit Tip: Nike boots tend to run narrow, especially the Mercurial range. If you have wider feet or are between sizes, go up half a size. The Tiempo line offers the most generous fit across Nike's range.

UNDERSTAND YOUR FIT

Not all feet are the same width. Here's what each fit profile means and which boots to look for.

Narrow Fit

Boots with a narrow fit offer a locked-in, responsive feel with minimal dead space around the forefoot. Ideal for players who prefer a tight, sock-like fit for maximum ball feel and control.

Tip: Nike Mercurial and Mizuno Morelia tend to be the narrowest boots on the market. If you have narrow feet, avoid leather boots that stretch over time.

Standard Fit

Standard fit boots accommodate the widest range of foot shapes. Most boots from major brands default to a standard width, giving a comfortable balance between snugness and room.

Tip: Most boots are designed for standard-width feet. If a boot fits well out of the box without pressure points, it's likely the right width for you.

Wide Fit

Wide fit boots offer extra room in the forefoot and toe box, reducing pressure points and discomfort during long sessions. Essential for players with naturally wide feet or high-volume feet.

Tip: New Balance, Adidas Copa, and Puma King are consistently the best options for wide feet. Leather uppers also stretch to accommodate width over time.

// HOW TO MEASURE

MEASURE YOUR FEET

Getting an accurate measurement is the single most important step. Here's how to do it properly.

  • 1
Place a piece of paper against a wall on a hard floor.
  • 2
Stand on the paper with your heel touching the wall. Wear the socks you play in.
  • 3
Mark the longest point of your foot (usually the big toe or second toe) on the paper.
  • 4
Measure the distance from the wall to the mark in centimetres.
  • 5
Measure both feet โ€” use the longer measurement.
  • 6
Add 0.5 cm for a comfortable game fit, or use the exact measurement for a tight, performance fit.
